Hi, I’m Mik.

I design and build websites for businesses. Without layers in between, with attention to every detail and a website that simply works.
Background
I’ve been working with software since I was sixteen. At first mostly on maintenance: keeping everything running and fixing problems when it wasn’t. Later more and more on building things myself.
I bring that combination to every website. I know how something is built, but also what it takes to keep it working well. With TheLooij Webdesign I put that experience to work for businesses that want to grow online.
A passion for design
Alongside the technology, I’ve always had a passion for art and design. I pay attention to colour, shape, type and the small details that make something beautiful. I find inspiration everywhere: in a painting, a sculpture or a beautiful building.
I bring that eye to every website. A site shouldn’t just work, it should also look good and suit who you are. Just like with a work of art, you can tell right away whether something was made with care.
Why one person?
At TheLooij there’s no account manager or project lead between you and your website. You talk directly to the person who designs and builds it. That’s faster, more personal, and nothing gets lost in translation.
Where I’m based
I work from Montferland, in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands, for businesses in the Netherlands and abroad. We meet and talk online or by phone, so distance doesn’t matter.
Outside work
MMA
Training keeps me sharp. I bring the discipline of the mat to my work.
Travel
I travel a lot. New places and cultures are a source of inspiration.
Art
What I see in art, from colour to composition, finds its way into my designs.
Three promises
This is how I work, on every project.
Honest and clear
You know up front what you’ll get and what it costs. No jargon, no small print.
Direct contact
You always talk to me. Questions, feedback or an idea? You have one point of contact.
A site that works
Fast, good on mobile and clear for your visitors. Looking good matters, but working matters more.
