Privacy policy.
Short and clear: I collect as little as possible, use your details only to help you and never sell them. Below you can read exactly how that works.
Last updated on 27 October 2026. This is a translation; the Dutch privacy statement is the official version.
Who am I?
TheLooij Webdesign is the sole proprietorship of Mik de Looij, based in Montferland (Gelderland, the Netherlands). I am responsible for what happens to your data on this website. Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 42181761, email [email protected].
What data do I collect?
Only what you fill in yourself in the contact form:
- your name and email address (required)
- your company name and phone number (if you fill them in)
- which package appeals to you, whether you already have a website, and your message
If you send me an email or a WhatsApp message, I receive your email address or phone number and what you write. I treat that in the same way.
To prevent spam, the form automatically checks your message, for example for too many links. Nothing extra is stored for this.
What do I use it for?
To get in touch with you, answer your question and, if you want, prepare a quote. If you become a client, I also use your details to build the website, to consult with you and to invoice you.
The legal basis is that you contact me yourself and want a quote or agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). For preventing spam, it is a legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
How long do I keep it?
- You don’t become a client? Then I delete your message and details no later than one year after our last contact.
- You do become a client? Then I keep your details for as long as we work together. I keep invoices and the details on them for seven years, because the Dutch Tax Administration requires it.
Who gets to see your data?
Only me. I never sell your data and don’t share it with others for their own purposes. Like every website, I do use a few services that are needed to make everything work:
- Hosting: Cloudflare, where this website is hosted. Cloudflare processes your message on its way to my mailbox and, as is usual, keeps technical log files that include IP addresses.
- Delivery: Resend, which sends the message from the form as an email to my mailbox.
- Email: Google Workspace, where your message arrives.
- WhatsApp: if you message me on WhatsApp, it goes through WhatsApp (part of Meta). Messages are encrypted, but Meta can see who is in contact with whom. If you don’t want that, use the form or email.
- Accounting: if you become a client, your billing details go into my accounts.
Agreements have been made with these parties so that they only use your data to provide that service. Some of them are American. If your data leaves the European Union as a result, this happens with the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Cookies
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. The fonts are hosted on this website itself, so your browser doesn’t contact other companies for those either.
The demo websites in the portfolio
The concept websites under Portfolio are examples for fictional businesses. Forms on them don’t send anything. Some demos do load components from other parties, such as fonts from Google Fonts or a map from Google Maps. Google then sees your IP address, and the map may set Google cookies. See Google’s privacy policy.
Security
The website uses a secure connection (https), so what you fill in can’t be read along the way. I only store your data on secured devices and in secured accounts.
Your rights
You can always ask what data I hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to its use, or ask for a copy in a common file format. Send your request through the contact form or by email to [email protected]. I respond within four weeks.
Not happy with how I handle your data? Let me know and we’ll find a solution together. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the supervisory authority in your own country.
Changes
If anything changes in how I handle data, I’ll update this policy. The date of the latest version is always at the top.
